This year CAR81 with Col Desbrow at the wheel and Col Blackney as navigator is an entrant for the "SUPER" Endeavour.
The 2008 Super Endeavour is not just any
old motoring event. It is SEVENTEEN days
and ELEVEN THOUSAND kilometres of
VERY hard and remote country. This will be
a very tough and demanding event on car
and person, as all Super Endeavours are and we are well prepared for the challenge.
Traditionally the Super is run every four
years and starts one week before the
Great Endeavour and both events meet up
somewhere and travel the last four or five
days together as one. Given the total distance and amount of days, the Super is usually
more demanding on car and crew than the
normal Great Endeavour.
2008 will see the fifth Super Endeavour take
place and once again will be a challenging
event traveling into areas that 2wd’s would
not normally go. Come July, we and 40 other very well
prepared cars and crews will embark on a
once in a lifetime experience crossing the
country from Longreach, to Alice Springs
then through the Gibson Desert to Kalgoorlie.
From Kalgoorlie, the rally will return east
crossing the Nullarbor Plains back to
Broken Hill to meet up with the annual Great
Endeavour Rally at Viewmont Station to
continue the run home to Baradine.
