Here we are on day one of the 20th Great Endeavour Rally. It is our second, and we are excited about heading off this morning to see some of the best country that Queensland has to offer.

Rally Update from the "RED BULL"

Well at the end of day one we arrived safely at Bollon at about 6.45pm, we have setup camp near a big gum tree under an incredibly clear sky, the "Starlight Motel" we call it. Now we are ready to visit the Bollon pub for dinner and a few drinks...

We had a great run today with no real problems, except for when Charlesy tried to get my attention by removing the mirror on my side of the car, came a bit close to a tree. I did switch on after that we are now going strong.

On route today we stopped off near Tara for a touching ceremony to pay our respects to Greg Jabbs and Willie Morton who lost their lives on the first Endeavour rally.

Lunch was prepared for us by the Tara Lionesses and Lions club ladies, then back on the Bollon highway again, except for a break for drinks at Booba, about 60k out of Bollon.

Both of us are looking forward to a good run tomorrow.

This is also a time to thank everyone who dug deep and donated to Endeavour on our behalf to help us build a total which this year has exceeded all our expectations. We set about our search for sponsors with the lofty figure $20,000 in mind and this meant retaining all the sponsors that we had on board from last year and uncovering more like minded people who felt that they could support Endeavour and our rally cause. And find them we did. This year we have many new sponsors and at higher levels of support. This great response has pushed our 2007 fundraising total past the all time record for an entrant in the rally. That’s above $33000, far in excess of the initial goal. We hope that everyone that has been involved in this years drive is proud of the result we have achieved - we can certainly assure you that Endeavour and the Endeavour client's are very appreciative!

DAY 1, TOOWOOMBA TO BOLLON:

Well, who would have thought that after 20 years, 170 000 rally km’s and over 3.5 million dollars later, the Great Endeavour is still going strong. Especially as the first rally was destined to be a one off event to celebrate the bicentennial year.

Well thanks to all who participated in the inaugural event, the Great Endeavour continued and has been a wonderful opportunity for the 6000 people who have travelled on it since 1988. Not to mention the sensational fundraising and awareness benefits for the Endeavour Foundation.

We sincerely thank you for taking part in this special anniversary event and certainly hope that it not only meets, but exceeds all your expectations.

As you can see from the distance to travel, it’s a reasonably long day. Please take the time to read the safe driving tips and tricks in the front of the book and make sure you get you, your car and your crew back to Kooralbyn in one piece.

Today’s course will be a variety of good, bad and ugly roads and tracks and should have a bit of everything thrown in. Sand, mud, dust, gates and smooth sailing on the bitumen.

It is better explained in the route instruction, however we will be stopping the entire rally & cruise today at the site of the accident that claimed the lives of Greg Jabbs and Willie Morton on the first day of the first Great Endeavour. In a meaningful, but brief ceremony we will pay tribute and our respects to these two men and their families. The first cars are due there at 10.30am. The ceremony will take place at 1.00pm. Lunch is also at this site.

Please make sure you only camp at the locations set out in the route instructions.

Have a great day, take it easy as there is still 4440km and 9 harsh days to go.

This is just a guide at this stage, times may alter between now and event.
