DAY 5, BEDOURIE TO LARK QUARRY:
After a day off at the races, it’s time to get back into the cars and the dirt and dust.
The rally and cruise head in two different directions today but end up in the same spot at days end.
The rally will head east down to Monkira then follow the Diamantina channels up through Diamantina Lakes National Park. From there, the course heads up to Mt Windsor then follows the Mayne river through private property to Lark Quarry.
The wacko through Mt Windsor will be very dusty, so care needs to be taken around gates. Some of the gates are old, tight and hard to open and close. Take your time and make sure you don’t wreck them.
The cruise course will head north to Boulia then west before cutting cross country through Cork Station. Generally this road is in good order, however there has been quite a bit of recent rain in that area, so who knows what you might find.
FUEL UP AT MONKIRA FOR THE RALLY: In order to get you through to Lark Quarry we have pre arranged a fuel drop at Monkira station at the end of W17. This will be out of drums. You will have to empty your jerry can into your car then get your jerry can filled. $40 = 20ltrs. This fuel has been brought and paid for by us, so it is compulsory to purchase 20ltrs. Should you require more than this, just ask and we will see what we can arrange. It is difficult, as we have to make sure everyone has enough, but we don’t wont to leave any there as it has been paid for already. We will have 1600ltrs there. (80 cars x 20ltrs)
