Rally Update from the "RED BULL"
Had a good day today, not too many problems, another big day though, some five to six hundred kilometres. Successfully completed all wacos to this point... did our first tyre which we changed fairly quickly, the jack was long enough this time... we are on the way to Leyburn now, Shane Webcke is going to be at the pub tonight and they are auctioning off a bonnet with Shane's portrait on it, would imagine that it will be quite cold. It was -3 at Mitchell this morning, luckily we had a motel for the night, had a few fuel problems today... we were able to complete some sections but down a bit on time, we cleaned out all the fuel filters and lines, removed what appears to be some sort of gooey substance but there is still a lot more left in the fuel, hopefully we can make it home and clean it out then. This last night of the rally is traditionally a big night, we have a house at Leyburn so we won't get too cold, on the home stretch tomorrow so all should be good... DAY 9: MITCHELL TO LEYBURN
The end is near. Thankfully this is the last long day on the road.
Today’s roads and track will zig zag across the Maronoa and Darling Downs using both good shire roads and plenty of scrubby bush tracks to keep you enthused.
Early up you will be passing through a few properties. Please respect this privilege and ensure gate are left as found.
The cruise course will follow a similar direction, without the use of rough roads.
Traditionally the last night out is heaps of fun and tonight should be no exception. The Leyburn Hotel has loads of atmosphere and locals will be out in full force to ensure a hearty welcome.
Shane Webcke owns the hotel and from what we are told, he will be there to make sure everyone has a great night. Up for auction tonight will be a bonnet with a portrait of Shane. The bonnet has been arranged by car 49.
